The Linfield 2008 squad are looking forward to a trip to Rangers FC on the weekend of February 24-25.
The squad will travel over on the early Saturday morning ferry to Cairnryan. Their bus will then take them to their hotel in Glasgow before travelling to Ibrox to take in the Rangers v Hearts game.
The squad will then return to their hotel to prepare for that night's eagerly anticipated match against the Rangers Academy for what will be a competitive but sporting fixture against our Scottish friends.
On the Sunday the squad will travel back to Ibrox for a pre-lunch stadium tour before returning to the Rangers academy training base for a training session with Rangers academy coaches. Then the squad will travel back to Cairnryan for the ferry home to Belfast.
The squad and coaching staff are all very excited to be going on this first trip as a team and they are very much looking forward to playing against our friends from across the water. The Linfield Academy would like to thank Rangers very much for their hospitality and in particular appreciation and gratitude is extended to Phil Cowen and Carberrys coaches for their assistance in the planning and organisation of this trip.
One of the Linfield Academy coaches Kyle Dawson commented how "it would be good to put our team against a strong professional academy team to see just how far as a squad we have progressed in such a short space of time. We all hope this can be the first of many successful trips for competitive fixtures and tournaments in the coming years."
A special get well soon message to our goalkeeper Ben Maxwell who unfortunately won't be able to take part in the match due to a fractured arm sustained in training last Monday night. A picture of him follows below and also the squad above.
