Linfield Academy 2006 and 2007 squads have enjoyed a weekend in Manchester where they have taken in a tour of the Old Trafford and the Etihad stadiums.

All the boys and coaches thoroughly enjoyed both tours of the hugely impressive stadiums.

On Friday night both squads played games against Manchester United academy squads at the Carrington training ground. A facility that must be up there with the best training facilities in football. Both squads equipped themselves very well against Man Utd squads that were physically bigger and slightly older. The 06 age group lost 5-0 but the result doesn't reflect the performance, as they missed a penalty and had a goal disallowed before Utd scored a couple of late goals. The 07 age group put in a fantastic performance to beat their Man Utd counterparts 3-2 in a highly entertaining game. Two goals from Braiden Graham and a sweet left footed strike from Tristan Devlin secured the win. Samuel Francey pulled off a fabulous finger tip save near the end to keep the score at 3-2. All the lads played a massive part in the games which were a fantastic experience for them all.

On Sunday we travelled to the Etihad to take on the Man City academy squads. Next up on the schedule was a trip to the Etihad to watch Man City take on Watford in the Premier league.

The boys have represented themselves, their coaches and Linfield Football club in a professionally manner and are a credit to everyone involved .
