Academy enjoy weekend trip to Dublin

On Sunday January 12 all of the Linfield Academy teams made the trip to Dublin to play challenge games against Cherry Orchard football club. It was a great experience for all our young players to play against a different club than they are used to. The games were all very competitive and players from both clubs were committed to doing well which resulted in good games of football.

We travelled with 7 boys reams and 2 girls teams which took a lot of organising and a lot of thanks go to Robin, Dave, Michael, Ricky and all the managers and coaches from the boys side and Molly and Peter who organised the girls teams.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Cherry Orchard, as when we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by the Cherry Orchard chairman Steve O'Brien, their Director of football and ex Crusaders centre half Aaron Callaghan and all the coaches who made sure that we were all looked after and that the boys and girls were all well fed with their goody bags of food.

As I said, it was a great experience and an opportunity to build friendships with another club from the south of Ireland and hopefully we can return the favour in the near future and invite Steve and his teams up to New Midgely park.

Academy director
