Ross Glendinning discusses his new contract

Submitted : 2nd March 2013

Ross Glendinning spoke to Linfieldfc.com following Saturday morning training at Windsor Park.

"I was absolutely delighted to be offered a 2 year contract extension. It's the biggest club in Ireland and it's where I want to be. I'm really enjoying my run in the first team and I just hope I can keep that run going. Looking down the line, I'm really looking forward to the next 2 years and I want to keep progressing.

It's nice to have the contract tidied up but to be honest, it wasn't something I'd been thinking about. I've just been concentrating on giving of my best and enjoying being in the team at the minute. I knew that if I did well in the team, I'd be rewarded with a new contract, so I'm delighted that the manager has shown this faith in me and I was delighted to put pen to paper and sign for 2 more years.

It's great that Niall Quinn and Ross Clarke have also been rewarded with new contracts. We're the same age group and we've come up through the ranks and they're 2 great players who've made a significant contribution to the club this season. It's good to have them here and I'm sure they'll continue to progress.

There's a few other good young players training with us at the minute - my brother Reece is just one of them and they'll see that if they keep working hard and playing well, they can have a good future here.

Monday night is going to be a massive game and I'm really looking forward to it. I see they're promoting it on their website as one of their biggest games in many a year and it'll certainly be a great game to be involved in. Our aim will be to keep the tie alive and hopefully win the game and the tie when we get them back here a week later.

I'm picking up great experience. I played in Europe, big Irish Cup games against Crusaders, the County Antrim shield final and obviously the recent "Big Two" game at the Oval, so I've no fear going to their place. It'll be a good pitch and a good stadium. There'll be a great atmosphere and I'm really looking forward to what is sure to be a great occasion.

We know this hasn't been a great season by our standards but we also know this is an opportunity to win major silverware. We're not going to catch Cliftonville but we're aiming for 2nd place. We're really raring to go on Monday night and we'll be going all out to try and win this trophy. It would be a great trophy for us to win as there are certainly some good teams with great players down south. It would be a great achievement for us to go on and win this trophy and the manager has done it before and he'll be going all out to try and do so again."
