DJ spoke to Linfieldfc.com regarding the recall of Gareth Deane from his loan spell.
"We decided a week and a half ago when Ross Glendinning had a wrist injury to recall Gareth from his loan spell at Carrick Rangers. At that stage we weren't really sure how long Ross was going to be out injured for and we really wanted to guard against any situation where we found ourselves short of a goalkeeper, if say Ross wasn't available and then say Johnny Tuffey got injured, meaning we'd have 2 goalkeepers out. You just need to look at the problems Glenavon and Ballymena had lately when they found themselves without 2 goalkeepers at the same time so it was a matter of us being practical looking ahead to the rest of the season.
We're very grateful to Carrick for giving Gareth the opportunity to play for them. He has really really impressed while playing for Carrick and he's coming back and I've told the other 2 goalkeepers the same that he's not coming back here as 3rd choice. He's coming back as part of the goalkeeping part of the squad and he's got to continue on with the good work he's carried out at Carrick and provide the additional competition and not just cover.
With Alan Blayney having gone out on loan, Gareth is coming back to ensure we keep 3 keepers competing for a place in the team."
