David Healy - "delighted to welcome Achille Campion on loan for rest of the season"

Posted : 2nd January 2018

Linfield FC is delighted to announce the signing of 27 year old Achille Campion on loan from Cork City until the end of the current season.

Achille, a strong forward player from Paris, signed for Linfield today soon after the opening of the January transfer window but the signing is now subject to international clearance.

Achille signed for Sligo in August 2016 and scored on his debut in a 5–0 win over Wexford on August 5.

He signed for Cork in November 2016 helping them to win both the Premier Division title and the FAI Cup in 2017. On November 4, he came on as an extra time sub in the FAI Cup final at the Aviva Stadium and scored the decisive equalising goal in the 1-1 draw against Dundalk. Cork went on to win the FAI Cup on penalties and thereby clinch their first league and cup double.

Linfield manager David Healy was delighted to welcome Achille to Windsor Park :

"He's a player we know well and have seen play live several times. Our scouts have monitored his progress and he's coming to us on the back of a very positive season, having helped them to a League and Cup double.

He will add experience and quality to the options available to us in our forward line and I'm really looking forward to starting to work with him in training tonight.

Achille joins Kurtis Byrne as striking arrivals from League of Ireland football on the opening of the January transfer window and I can assure our supporters that we will continue to seek fresh faces for the challenges that lie ahead for us in our league and cup campaigns.

I know our supporters will give Achille and Kurtis a warm welcome and I've been grateful to our board for the positive backing to our efforts to strengthen our squad, as we aim to finish the season as strongly as we possibly can".
