David Healy and Joel Cooper discuss the player’s summer move to Linfield.

David Healy

“On January 24 we announced that Joel had signed a pre-contract to join us on a 3 year contract at the end of the season which has now finished.

I’m delighted to be able to officially welcome him to Windsor Park and I’m looking forward to him joining us for pre-season training in a few weeks.

Linfield supporters will soon be able to see the first images of Joel in Linfield colours and I know everyone is looking forward to seeing him wear those colours in action in a few weeks time.”

Joel Cooper

“I’m delighted to have signed for Linfield and it will be great to play for the biggest club in the country.

I played for the Linfield Academy as a 14-15 year old and hold great memories of winning 4 trophies at that age level, so I’m well aware of the club and the expectations, the traditions and the pressures.

I know Ross Oliver well from my time at my home town team, Ballyclare and when I met David Healy, I was excited and impressed by his plans for the future of the club. As a forward player, I’m bound to learn a lot from the manager who was such a leading striker in his playing career.

I was delighted to hear yesterday that Roy Carroll has signed a one year contract extension. I got to know Roy well when Paul Smyth and I were in France with the international squad in the build up to the European championships two years ago. I’m really looking forward to playing in the same team as Roy and I think it’s great that Paul Smyth has gone on to do so well, both in England and for the international team.

I’m looking forward to meeting up with everyone for pre season and I can’t wait to get started.

I know competition for places will be tough and I know this club is expected to be winning trophies but I came here to aim to bring silverware to the club. I believe I will thrive under the pressure and I’m looking forward to the opportunity of playing at the impressive Windsor Park stadium on a regular basis.

I want to place on record my thanks to Bill Peden for the important role he played in arranging my move to Linfield. It’s a great move for me and I will give it my all, as we aim to bring success to the club.”
