David Healy delighted with today’s win

David Healy discusses today’s Windsor Park game.

“It wasn’t the ideal start for us by conceding but we deserved to win the game, we created numerous opportunities and we responded well to the setback. So, whilst it wasn’t how we wanted to start, fair play to the players. It’s been a tough couple of weeks for us in terms of games and travelling but thankfully, we ended up getting a positive result which was important.

“We probably feel as though we can play a lot better than that, we were ok, but we need to be more clinical when the chances come along, but credit to Institute for their battling performance, they worked their socks off, as they always do. We expected no different, whether it was a new manager or not it’s the same group of players and we got a tough game today.

“Jordan Stewart’s strike was excellent, I was surprised when he took it on, even though he’s more than capable of scoring goals like that. Initially it looked like it was going a few yards over the bar but it had a lot of dip on it and it was a big goal at the time as we needed a second going into half time.”

“We rode our luck a little bit in Montenegro last week but we are really looking forward to the return leg, it’s a big game for the club and the players. The players have given themselves and the club a chance of progression but it won’t be easy. It’s one of them where people might think that because we won away from home that it’ll be comfortable at home but that won’t be the case. They’re a good side with good players. We know they’ll have had a better look at us now after the other night and they’ll be better for that. As will we, after playing the first leg. We look forwards to it as it’s a big game for the players and the club."
