David Jeffrey stepped down as Linfield manager on Saturday after 17 years and 3 months in charge at Windsor Park.

Trevor Anderson resigned as manager on the morning of Saturday 4 January 1997. David Jeffrey took over for the 2-0 win away to Portadown that afternoon. David remained in a caretaker capacity for the following game, a 2-0 home win in the Coca Cola Cup against Ballyclare on January 7 and he was officially appointed manager a day later. His first game in full control was a 0-0 home draw with Crusaders on 11 January.

David announced his decision to step down before a home game with Ballinamallard United on February 15 and his final game in charge was Saturday's 5-2 win away to Glenavon.

2002/3 season saw debuts for a further eight players - R. McCann, S. Shaw, P. McKnight, H. Dickson, P. Wall, M. Chines, G. Shannon and A, McKee.

2003/4 season brought a further eight players to the club - K. Irons, A. O'Kane, P. Charnock, P. Dalglish, S. Douglas, P. McAreavey, M. Hughes and M. Clegg,

2004/05 saw debuts for another eight players - A. Crawford, F. Simpson, S. Campbell, T. Mouncey, J. Ervin, G, Dunlop, B. Spence and J. Bell.

Clean Sweep 2005/6 season saw debuts for a further eight players - O. Kearney, C.Kingsberry, J. Mulgrew, A. Jephcott, T, McCann, S, Garrett, P. Hamilton and J. Watterson

In 2006/07 season 12 players made their first start for the club - M. Dickson, T. Stewart, K. Lindsay, T. Adamson, C, Downey, M. Magennis, F. Burke, G. Stewart, R. McLaughlin (2), A. Dick, BJ Burns and A Ferguson.

Only five players made their first start in season 2007/8 - D. Curran, L. Hogan, W. Faulkner, M. Miskimmin and C. McKendry.

In 2012/13 season six players made their first starts for the club - G. Deane, Reece Glendinning, J. Black, R. Henderson, M. Tipton and C.McMenamin.

In 2013/14 season 10 players made their debuts - J. Tuffey, K. McVey, M. Haughey, S. Ward, M. Clarke, J. Knowles, R. Brown, A. Waterworth and I. Sproule, with Jimmy Callacher becoming the 179th and final player to play under David Jeffrey's management.
