Death of former player Jimmy Todd Back to Latest News Index

Submitted : 9th November 2007 at 12:44:39 AM

It is with sadness and regret that we report the death of former Linfield player, Jimmy Todd on November 4, after an illness courageously borne. He died just short of what would have been his 90th birthday

Jimmy signed for Linfield in April 1937 and made his debut in a 5-2 win over Glentoran on September 18 that year. Jimmy scored two goals in his debut game.

In season 1937-38 he won a Co. Antrim Shield winners medal in a victory against Ballymena. He signed for Glentoran in season 1938-39, although he returned to Linfield the following season.

A damaged knee ended his playing career and he later became manager of Crusaders, Carrick Rangers and Ards.

The funeral service is scheduled for Roselawn Crematorium at 11am on Friday November 9.

The sympathy of all at Linfield FC is extended to Jimmy’s sons Neville and Barry.
