David Jeffrey stepped down as Linfield manager on Saturday after 17 years and 3 months in charge at Windsor Park.
Trevor Anderson resigned as manager on the morning of Saturday 4 January 1997. David Jeffrey took over for the 2-0 win away to Portadown that afternoon. David remained in a caretaker capacity for the following game, a 2-0 home win in the Coca Cola Cup against Ballyclare on January 7 and he was officially appointed manager a day later. His first game in full control was a 0-0 home draw with Crusaders on 11 January.
David announced his decision to step down before a home game with Ballinamallard United on February 15 and his final game in charge was Saturday's 5-2 win away to Glenavon.
