Preview of Wednesday's game in Glasgow

Wednesday night's Champions League action sees Linfield and Celtic FC meet in the second leg of the 2nd qualifying round at Celtic Park, Glasgow. (19.45pm ko, all ticket). The winners of the tie will face either Dundalk or Norwegian side Rosenborg in the third qualfying round of the competition.

Last week's historic first leg in Belfast saw visitors Celtic take control of the tie with an assured professional display. In the first half the visitors enjoyed plenty of possession as they forged ahead with two unanswered goals scored direct from set plays. But after the interval, a revitalised Linfield side battened down the hatches as Roy Carroll rolled back the years with a string of first class saves. The Celtic defence then began to come under some real, albeit sporadic, pressure from a tireless Linfield side. David Healy can take plenty of positives from this battling performance which saw his players end the game with pride intact and fully deserving of the rapturous applause from the Linfield faithful.

Linfield will be heading into the proverbial lion's den when they line up in front of an expected crowd of 50,000+ at the impressive Celtic Park. The Linfield players will once again have to remain resolute and focused in the face of what is likely to be a tidal wave of pressure from the home side. The less than 1,500 or so travelling Linfield supporters will of course be trying their best to spur on the players amidst what is sure to be a cauldron of noise. Hopefully though for Linfield, it will be a night to remember for all the right reasons! COYB!
