Preview of Monday’s Solitude game

Monday evening sees Linfield travel to Solitude for match day 23 of the NIFL Danske Bank Premiership to face hosts Cliftonville FC (7.45pm ko, all ticket). Sky Sports will be presenting live coverage on the night, with transmission from Solitude beginning at 7.35pm.

In recent weeks Cliftonville have hit a rich vein of form which has seen them win all of their last four Premiership games. Significantly for the Reds, two of these victories have come against fellow title contenders Coleraine and Crusaders.

Linfield will be crossing the line at Solitude determined to put the huge disappointment of the early Irish Cup exit at Queen's firmly behind them. In the Premiership, the Blues have slipped down into fourth place in the table following some inconsistent form that has seen a return of just five points from the last four league games. They do however remain firmly in contention sitting just three points off the top with games in hand. The Blues will certainly need to build up some momentum if they are to keep pace in what is proving to be the tightest title race seen in many seasons. The Blues will be looking to bring their 'A' game to Solitude and produce the match winning performance required to elevate them up to the box seat at the top of the table. Linfield can expect a tough, intense ninety minutes of football in what is always a very feisty and competitive fixture. COYB!
