Linfield Honorary Vice-President Billy Kennedy has expressed his deep regret at the passing of Billy Bell, who, he described, as a life-long, loyal and true Blueman.
Billy, brought up in the Sandy Row / Donegall Road area of Belfast, and aged 84, passed away this week after an illness.
He was an Ulster Unionist councillor separately in Belfast and Lisburn over four decades and, uniquely, served as Lord Mayor of Belfast and as Mayor of Lisburn.
"Billy, a personal friend, was a Linfield supporter in the best tradition and was a member of the Linfield Social Club which ran the Viewing Lounge at Windsor Park in the 1960s through to the 1990s.
"He passed his love of Linfield to other members of his family and graciously, he hosted several receptions for Linfield Football Club at Belfast City Hall. My sympathy is extended to Billy's wife Leona and the wider family circle," said Billy Kennedy..
