As we approach Remembrance weekend, Linfield Football Club pays tribute to and honours all those who paid the supreme sacrifice in two World Wars. The players will again proudly wear the poppy emblem on their jerseys for tonight’s League game at Ballymena, however the club has been working on putting in place a more permanent memorial to those brave men from this club who fought for King and Country.
A new Linfield War Memorial will be unveiled and dedicated at a special service to be held in the club offices at Windsor Park on Saturday 18th November from 12:30-1:00 pm. This memorial will be displayed in a prominent position within the club offices as a permanent reminder of those brave Linfield players who left these shores to fight in the First and Second World Wars, many never to return.
All Linfield supporters are warmly invited to attend this event which takes place in advance of our league game against Coleraine at Windsor Park. Please advise the club early next week on 90244198 (firstname.lastname@example.org
) if you are planning to attend to enable us to arrange appropriate catering.
If any supporters club wishes to pay their own tribute by laying a wreath at the memorial they are welcome to do so. Please notify the Club Chairman in advance (email@example.com
) so that arrangements can be made to include this in the programme for the event.
This will be a hugely poignant occasion for everyone connected to the club and we look forward to your support next Saturday.
