Linfield FC passes on the letter of appreciation that has been received from the Army benevolent fund (the soldiers charity) who organised an official collection before Saturday’s Irish Cup tie at Windsor Park.

“Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to collect at the gates of Windsor Park on Saturday before the Linfield v Crusaders Match.

We had a total of 8 volunteers present who between them collected £841.69.

ABF (The Soldiers Charity) are here to support the Army family in Northern Ireland and over the past year, have provided support to many soldiers, veterans and their families to enable them to live with independence and dignity.

This has included providing a grant towards a new boiler for a veteran who cannot work due to health issues and who had been relying on an open fire for warmth. We were able to step in and help before damp increased and began affecting his quality of life.

We also helped a bereaved wife with funeral costs, as well as helping an elderly widow of a veteran by providing a grant for a roof replacement so her kitchen could remain usable and she could keep on enjoying cooking.

We are proud to support soldiers and veterans of every conflict – from the Second World War to the most recent operations – and to ensure their immediate families are taken care of too.”
