On Friday June 22, at UEFA headquarters in Geneva in Switzerland, Linfield Ladies will discover the outcome of the UEFA Women’s Champions League draw.
The Women's UEFA Champions League takes the form of a group of 4 - with each of the teams playing each other in 3 group games over the course of a week in one host city (with two stadiums).
In Linfield’s historic first ever participation in the Women’s UEFA Champions League last season the club hosted hugely memorable games against PK-35 Vantaa of Finland, KKYK Medyk Konin of Poland and Shelbourne of Dublin.
Yesterday, Linfield learned that the club had again been successful in its application to host one of the 10 groups of 4 taking place across Europe in August.
Linfield earned the right to be one of the 10 host clubs on the back of strong reviews following our hosting of a highly successful tournament last August. In addition to Linfield and Glasgow City as host clubs in Western Europe, all the other host clubs are in Eastern Europe - Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine.
Linfield will play group games at Solitude or Seaview on August 7, 10 and 13 and the support of Linfield fans will be greatly appreciated and needed.
The club is keen to attract match, player, ball and other forms of sponsorship for these hugely prestigious games against some of the leading clubs in Europe.

As second time entrants / participants, Linfield are a 4th ranked team in their group, so who will be the other teams that will make up the group that will take place here in Belfast?
All will be revealed at the draw in Switzerland on Friday June 22 but excitement is beginning to mount at the prospect of Linfield possibly welcoming world famous clubs of the stature of Anderlecht, Ajax Amsterdam, FC Basel, Austria Vienna and Sporting Lisbon to Northern Ireland.
Closer to home, Cardiff Met Ladies FC or Wexford Youths Womens FC are possible opponents for the Danske Bank NIFL Premier League champions and current league leaders.
What is certain is that Linfield will host and welcome one team from each of the following 3 groups of higher ranked teams.
The three teams that come out of the hat to face Linfield will all spend a week in Northern Ireland between August 6 and 14 - with only the group winners assured of a place in the subsequent round of the UEFA Champions League.
