Everyone at Linfield FC extends their best wishes to star striker Ali Smyth who will undergo major surgery in hospital on Wednesday.
Ali suffered a double break in her left leg in Friday night’s Premier League game and there are additional major cruciate complications as well.
The popular Linfield forward will be out of football action for at least a year and her absence will be a huge blow to her team mates.
Ali has received expert medical care since being attended to by the club physio, ambulance personnel and hospital professionals and the thanks of everyone at the club are conveyed to all those who have cared for our injured Player.
Ali has been boosted by numerous supportive messages from within the club and much further afield and the Linfield manager David Healy visited her in hospital to express his support, as she begins a long road to what will hopefully be a full recovery.
Linfield FC would ask that our supporters keep Ali in their thoughts and prayers as she undergoes major surgery to begin to repair the damage caused to her left leg.
Supporters are also asked to remember the surgeons who will be carrying out their highly skilled and complex work to help Ali recover from the serious injury she suffered in Friday night’s game in Strabane.
It’s been an extremely difficult and upsetting period for everyone connected with Linfield Ladies FC and Linfield FC and hopefully, tomorrow’s operation will be a major success and a huge step forward in the long road to recovery for a bubbly girl who’s been a major leader, goal scorer, Personality and presence in the Linfield Ladies team for several years.
She will be greatly missed on the pitch but she will be most welcome around the squad throughout her recovery process.
The entire Linfield FC family extends best wishes for a full and swift as possible recovery to Ali and no doubt, her team mates and the wider football fraternity will help encourage her through difficult times ahead.
