As Linfield prepare for what will be the club's 5th Irish Cup final appearance in Saturday's Windsor Park Big Two Derby clash with Glentoran, Linfieldfc.com takes a trip down memory lane recalling the 4 previous Irish Cup finals the club has been involved in.

Linfield's first Irish Cup final took place on September 19, 2008 in Loughgall.

Linfield were in their first season as a Premier League club and came up against the giants of women's football Glentoran. The Glens won 4-0 at a time when they were the dominant power in league and Cup football.

Linfield's next appearance in the Irish Cup final was to come at Solitude on September 7, 2013.

Goals from Ashley Hutton and a Kirsty McGuinness penalty gave Linfield a truly memorable 2-1 win against Crusaders to land the trophy for Linfield for a very first time.

Above - young Academy prospects Abbie Magee and Megan Bell who have since made a huge impact at first team level.

Linfield were to successfully defend the trophy a year later, this time after a hugely dramatic penalty shoot out 8-7 win against Newry City at Bangor's Clandeboye Rd.

On August 25, 2014 Sarah Venney and Ashley Hutton scored in the 2-2 draw with Lindsay Corry scoring the decisive winning penalty to retain the coveted trophy.

On September 23, 2016 Linfield won the inaugural Windsor Park Irish Cup final.

In a dramatic game with Cliftonville in which Linfield keeper Nicole Adams was injured for the second time in an Irish Cup final, goals from Kirsty McGuinness and Abbie Magee won the cup by a 2-1 margin for a Linfield team who on the night were managed by former Linfield star Mark Dickson.

Not even 16 at the time, Abbie Magee scored the winner in the last minute at the Kop end of Windsor Park to trigger the victory celebrations.

And attention now turns to Saturday night's Windsor Park Irish Cup final against Glentoran with Linfield aiming to regain a very favourite trophy and up against the 6 time winners who made this trophy very much their own property in the early years of the competition.

Games with Glentoran have proven to be extremely close affairs this season and this one promises to be no different.
