Linfield slip to 1-0 reverse

Linfield went down 1-0 in tonight’s Big Two derby at New Midgley Park.

It means that at the half way stage in the league campaign Glentoran lead the way on goal difference from second placed Linfield.

Tonight’s game was a hard fought close encounter between two evenly matched teams. It was a typically competitive Big Two game played in front of a good sized attendance.

Both teams defended resolutely throughout and the one genuine chance fell the way of the visitors on 42 minutes,

A clever chip into the box was met sweetly first time on the volley by McMaster and her strike gave Lauren Perry no chance as it flew into the roof of the net.

In the second half Linfield probed and pressed but just couldn’t get the breakthrough as a stubborn and strong Glentoran defence held firm.

Linfield made attacking substitutions in an attempt to secure a point but it wasn’t to be as Glentoran maintained their impressive recent run of form and results.
