Linfield regain top spot in league table

Linfield returned to the top of the Danske Bank NIFL Premier League following last night’s win at Londonderry park in Newtownards against Comber Rec.

Kirsty McGuinness put Linfield 1-0 ahead after 2 minutes.

Caitlyn McGuinness doubled the lead after 7 minutes following a right wing Rebecca McKenna cross.

Rebecca Bassett scored after 27 minutes

Kirsty McGuinness heeded home her sister’s cross on 28 minutes.

Casey Howe scored after 29 minutes following a Casey Howe cross.

Kirsty McGuinness scored her hat trick goal on 34 mins and then added another from the penalty spot a minute later.

Caitlyn McGuinness (42 mins) and then Casey Howe (44 mins) scored.

Kirsty McGuinness scored her 5th from the penalty spot on 52 mins.

Rebecca McKenna scored with a fine shot after 70 mins and Rebecca Bassett scored from a rebound after Hayley O’Donnell’s shot crashed back off the bar after 79 mins.

Hayley O’Donnell scored her first Linfield goal after 80 mins with a fine shot from distance.

The final goal of the evening was scored by the home side after 83 minutes with a fine shot from distance in front of their enthusiastic home crowd.

Linfield are next in action on July 31 with Derry City the visitors to New Midgley Park.
