Linfield extend lead at top of table

Linfield recorded 3 league points at New Midgley park last night before heading off to Brussels on Tuesday for UEFA Champions League games against Lillestrom, PAOK and Anderlecht.

Appreciation is extended to the Linfield Supporters Trust who kindly sponsored last night’s game and to Ronnie Morrison who as always sponsored the player of the match award.

Linfield took a 2nd minute lead when Abbie Magee’s cross allowed Caitlyn McGuinness to open the scoring.

Caitlyn turned provider on 11 minutes as sister Kirsty doubled Linfield’s lead.

In the 14th minute Caitlyn put Linfield 3-0 ahead.

On 26 minutes Rebecca Bassett hit the post but two minutes later she hooked home Linfield’s 4th from close range.

In the 33rd minute Kirsty McGuinness scored direct from a corner.

On 40 minutes Kirsty McGuinness scored her hat trick goal converting Rebecca McKenna’s low cross to put Linfield 6-0 ahead.

Caitlyn McGuinness scored her hat trick goal on 48 minutes for Linfield’s 7th goal of the night.

In the 55th minute Caitlyn scored her 4th goal for Linfield’s 8th when she converted Casey Howe’s cross.

Minutes later Abbie Magee let fly with a thunderbolt from distance but it went centimetres wide of the post.

Linfield made the triple substitution above on the hour mark.

Casey Howe rattled the cross bar before Louise McFrederick bagged Linfield’s 9th and final goal on 81 minutes converting from close range following a Kirsty McGuinness free kick.
