Linfield make progress in Youth cup at Windsor Park

Cup holders Linfield Rangers advanced to the second round of the Harry Cavan Youth cup following today’s 7-0 win against Fivemiletown at Windsor Park.

In the 8th minute Jamie McDarby was upended in the box and Carson Elliott converted the resultant penalty kick for the opening goal.

On 10 minutes a fine run by Brandon Lindsay ended with a good finish for Linfield’s second goal and it was 3-0 after 19 minutes when Carson Elliott scored his second of the game.

In the 50th minute Kian Storey scored Linfield’s 4th with a great strike into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Billy Joe McQuiston replaced Josh Archer after 62 minutes and in the 74th minute a sublime pass by McQuiston enabled Jack Barbour to score Linfield’s 5th with a tidy finish.

Linfield replaced Mehaffy with Farquhar and Elliott with McDade on 77 and 80 minutes.

On 82 minutes Kian Storey scored his second and Linfield’s 6th with a free kick into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Linfield scored the 7th and final goal after 84 minutes with an exquisite finish into the top corner from the edge of the box by sub Michael McDade.
