Linfield Swifts advanced to the next round of the Steel and Sons Cup following today’s 7-1 win against 18th Newtownabbey at New Midgley Park.
First half goals by Matthew Shevlin, Jake Corbett, Dale Taylor and Daniel Reynolds gave Linfield a 4-0 advantage before Wesley Patterson pulled a goal back for the visitors from the penalty spot.

Matthew Shevlin was upended in the box and he confidently converted the resultant penalty to increase the advantage to 5-1.
Ross Weatherup replaced Jake Corbett, Bradley McAfee replaced Trai Hume and Josh Archer replaced Charlie Allen.
Matthew Shevlin scored his hat trick goal and Linfield’s 6th with a venomous strike from just outside the box and Daniel Reynolds scored Linfield’s 7th when he won a race to the ball with the keeper and scored from near the corner flag with the keeper stranded.
