Ballinamallard Head Coach Whitey Anderson coached and developed Mark Stafford since he was a boy. Mark won the Irish Youth Cup in 2006 under Whitey and he was captain of the Ballinamallard United squad that won the Championship 1 title in 2011/12 and earned the Fermanagh club's historic promotion to the Premiership where they have remained successfully for 3 seasons.
In announcing on April 20, 2015 that Mark and his team mate David Kee had signed pre-contracts to join Linfield Whitey stated “I have known Mark Stafford for over 20 years, and Davy Kee has been at Ballinamallard for over 6 years. They are two fine young men with great ability and integrity."
Linfield announced on April 20, 2015 that Mark had signed a pre-contract to join Linfield at the end of the 2014/15 season.
Linfield debut in a home 5-0 win against Glebe Rangers in the League Cup on September 1, 2015.
First goal in a 2-0 home County Antrim Shield semi final win against Carrick Rangers on Tuesday December 15, 2015.
Mark agreed a 1 year contract extension on January 19, 2017 to take effect at the expiry of his current contract at the end of the season.

Agreed 1 year contract extension in February 2018 to take effect on the expiry of his existing contract at the end of the 2017/18 season.
100th appearance in a 2-2 home draw against Coleraine on April 21, 2018.
