Joel agreed a pre contract on January 24 2018 to sign for Linfield on a 3 year contract on the expiry of his contract with Glenavon at the end of the 2017/18 season.

Joel played with the Linfield Academy for one season and he trained with the senior international squad in the build up to the Euros in France in 2016.

Linfield debut in a 1-0 league win away to Glenavon on August 4, 2018.

First Linfield goal came in a 3-0 home win against Institute on August 10, 2018,

Scored what turned out to be his final 2 goals for Linfield in an 8-1 home league win against Glenavon on January 25, 2020.

Played what turned out to be his final Linfield game in a 2-0 league win away to Carrick Rangers on March 7, 2020.

Agreed a deal to sign for Oxford United on a 3 year contract on July 23, 2020

Rejoined on loan in January 2021 until the end of the season.

First game in second spell at the club came as a sub in a 4-3 league defeat at Solitude on January 26, 2021.
