Amber Dempster - "a great way to sign off for the season"

Posted : 11th August 2013

Amber Dempster scored the 3rd goal in Linfield Ladies' 4-0 Cup victory on Friday night. She interrupted her celebrations to speak to before leaving for Dublin and a Saturday morning 6am flight to Boston, USA, along with team mates Maeve Netercott and Louise McFrederick for their university placements.

"I feel magic tonight. It's an amazing feeling. We can't believe the result we've just achieved. All the girls are on a real high and I thought all our girls were really fantastic tonight.

We made history tonight with our first trophy and it's absolutely amazing. We're just so happy to win 4-0. It was just unbelieveable.

It was really brilliant to get the 3rd goal tonight. I certainly wasn't expecting to score but it was an unbelievable feeling, especially as it was against such a top team and in a big cup final in front of a good crowd. It was great for Kirsty and Sarah to score as well but absolutely everybody played their part in a great team performance.

The result will do wonders for our confidence. We have 2 more cup ties to play - another final and a semi-final against the Glens, so there's all to play for there, as well as 3 league games as well.

I'm heading to Dublin soon to catch a flight to Boston in America for my placement on my university course. I'll be doing a bit of coaching to under 16s over there, so I'll make sure I tell them all about how good Linfield and Northern Ireland are.

Louise and Maeve are going too. Maeve and I are are going to be sharing digs and Louise will not be too far away, so we have a big journey and adventure ahead of us. I'll be back for the new season and it's a really nice way to sign off for now with the goal, the win and the trophy. We couldn't be leaving on a better high and of course, we'll miss everybody.

We'll also miss not being involved in our remaining games but we have a really good squad and I have every confidence that they'll give a really good account of themselves in our remaining games. Certainly, we'll be cheering them on from across the Atlantic and keeping up to date with everybody through facebook etc.

Ryan and all the coaches have got a great team spirit here and it's all coming together really well this season, so all the coaches deserve a lot of praise and thanks from all the players."
