David Healy announces contract extensions for two key players.
"I'm delighted to be able to announce that Kirk Millar and Jimmy Callacher have both agreed and signed two year contract extensions, to take effect from the expiry of their existing contracts at the end of the season.
It's very pleasing that both players have committed their immediate futures to Linfield. They are players who have played in virtually every game since I became manager, so I rate them both very highly. They are both young players who I believe will make a major contribution to the club in years to come.
It's great to get these contract renewals concluded at this point, so that the players can give their full focus and attention to maintaining their current high level of performances and helping the club in our efforts to be as successful as possible in the remaining months of the season.
Jimmy is an experienced and quality player who has been an integral and vital part of our defence in recent times and I've been delighted and impressed with his positive attitude, his consistency, his will to win and his deep sense of pride in playing for this club. Injuries prevented him from getting a settled run in the team before I became manager but since I've been at Windsor Park, his displays have been most assured and commanding.
Kirk is also in a rich vein of form at the minute and he's playing with confidence and self-belief. He's had the experience of playing across the water with Oldham and he's really enjoying his football at the minute, as he's reaping the reward and benefit of having an extended run in the first team. He's got all the trickery in his locker but he's added increased work rate to his game which has greatly benefited the team.
Both players have earned and deserved their contract extensions and I know that this welcome news will be well received by our supporters. I'm looking forward to continuing to work with both players and hopefully seeing them continue to do well in the blue jersey."
