David Healy - "disappointing injury news concerning Roy Carroll"

Posted : 5th February 2018

David Healy reveals disappointing injury news about Roy Carroll.

"I want to advise our supporters that Roy Carroll had a scan after a collision he sustained up at Ballymena a week or so ago. The results of the scan on his knee reveal that he will be out of action for quite a number of weeks.

We are naturally disappointed to be without Roy and we wish him well for a speedy recovery.

Injuries are part and parcel of football and this unfortunate injury to Roy has given young Gareth Deane an opportunity and I have every faith in both him and our other promising young keeper, Alex Moore.

Supporters who were up at Coleraine last week will recall the fantastic save Gareth made just before the home team scored their opening goal and certainly, that save Gareth made just under the crossbar will have been a great boost to his confidence.

We have two other injured players at present - Achille Campion and Stephen Fallon and I expect both of them to be available to the squad again in just over a week or so. Joe Crowe wasn't available at the weekend just past, as when he joined us, he did so under a suspension carried forward from when he played for Norwich City under 23s".
