David Healy advises supporters of the departure of Charlie Allen.
“I want to take this opportunity to advise our supporters that Charlie Allen will today start an exciting new adventure with Leeds United.
Agreement has been reached between the clubs for the transfer to take place and this is a terrific opportunity for Charlie to progress and develop as a player at a club I know well from my playing days and which is looking forward to an exciting new season back in the Premier League..
Charlie won’t be 17 until November but Leeds and several other leading clubs see the potential he possesses and the hard work really starts now for Charlie to carve out a career for himself.
He and his father came in to see me last week to say their farewells. I know he has a supportive family and they and all his friends in Carrickfergus are right behind him in wanting him to do well as he embarks upon this exciting new challenge.
Charlie progressed through our Academy and made several first team appearances and I know the coaches in our Academy are delighted to see him be given this opportunity at a big club and they too will be watching his progress with interest and willing him to succeed.
He scored for the Swifts In their Steel and Sons Cup final success last Christmas.
On behalf of all the players, staff, management, directors and supporters of Linfield FC, I would like to extend every best wish to Charlie in his exciting new career opportunity at Leeds United.
