David Healy confirms news of the retirement of Martin Donnelly.
“I want to advise our supporters that Martin Donnelly has notified me of his intention to retire from football.
He joined us on a two year contract last summer and I’m sorry that injury has prevented him from seeing out his contract.
He’s had a distinguished Irish League playing career earning honours at Cliftonville, Crusaders and Larne and of course, he earned a League winners medal with ourselves last season.
I totally understand and respect his decision, as it’s vitally important that he doesn’t cause himself irreparable damage by prolonging his career.
Martin may have only been with us for one season but he was a popular person and positive influence on the pitch and in the dressing room.
I want to thank Martin for his contribution to our success last season and I want to offer him every best wish for everything he does in the future.”
