David Healy - injury update
Posted : 26th November 2022
David Healy provides an injury update ahead of today’s game.
‘I want to advise our supporters that Kirk Millar underwent surgery on his injured hand on Thursday.
While he continues his recovery, he will be missing from the squad for several weeks.
He joins several other players who are currently unavailable for selection, due to injury.
Andrew Clarke has missed a couple of recent games, having picked up an injury and Kyle McClean will be missing from today’s game in accordance with the concussion protocols, having had to be withdrawn from the midweek game, due to a knock he sustained.
In addition, Joel Cooper and Niall Quinn, together with our longer-term absentees (Ben Hall and Jordan Stewart) continue to make progress under the watchful eye of our medical team of Patrick Noble (doctor), Terry Hayes (sports therapist) and Paul Butler (physio).
In addition to those seven players unavailable due to injury, we are also without Ross Larkin, although it’s been very pleasing to see him resume light training in recent times.
One other player missing today is Eetu Vertainen who is serving a one game suspension, having accumulated five cautions.
Injuries and suspensions test the depth and strength of the resources of the squad and provide opportunities to others and today, three of our younger players will benefit from the experience of being part of the first team match day squad.
Aodhan Doherty is only 16 but has impressed with our Rangers squad and he is joined by one of our apprenticeship scholars, 17-year-old Diego Esquivel McGann and recent first team debutant Liam McStravick who will celebrate his 18th birthday tomorrow.”
