The following is taken from the official UEFA website
The 2020/21 UEFA Champions League preliminary round draw will take place from 11am UK time on Friday 17 July.
The champions of the four lowest-ranked nations in the 2019 UEFA association club coefficient rankings (Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Andorra, San Marino) enter the preliminary round.
In accordance with the principles set by the Club Competitions Committee on 17 June 2020, the national association coefficient is used to seed the clubs.
Seeded: Champions of Northern Ireland, champions of Kosovo
Unseeded: Champions of Andorra, champions of San Marino
The first draw determines the two semi-finals; the first team drawn in each tie will be considered the nominal home team. An additional draw determines which semi-final winner will be considered the nominal home team for the final.
As the entry deadline is set for 3 August, the country of each participant is used for the draw. The final list of the participating clubs will be confirmed and communicated to all parties on 3 August.
What is the preliminary round?
The preliminary round is a mini-tournament consisting of semi-finals on 8 August and a final on 11 August, all one-off matches to be played at a neutral venue.
The preliminary round winners enter the first qualifying round, which will also consist of one-off ties taking place on 18 and 19 August.
