Over the past few weeks Linfieldfc.com has launched a new ‘Monday morning memory lane’ feature in which we focus on two separate photos and the interesting story behind the photos.
In recent weeks there has been a European theme to this series and in the second of today's two part feature we focus on a pennant from Portuguese side Victoria Setubal on display in the Windsor Park trophy cabinet.
The pennant relates to a Inter cities Fairs Cup tie between the two clubs in 1968.
In the first leg on September 18, 1968 Linfield lost 3-0 in Portugal.
The Linfield team line up was - McGonigal, Gilliland, Patterson, Andrews, Hatton, Bowyer, Millen, Hamilton (Coulter), Pavis, Scott and Cathcart.
The return leg was at Windsor Park on October 9, 1968 and the visitors won 3-1 to progress 6-1 on aggregate.
Phil Scott scored the Linfield goal and the team line up was as follows - McGonigal, Gilliland, Patterson, Andrews, Hatton, Bowyer, Coulter (Ferguson), Hamilton, Pavis, Scott and Cathcart.
