On this July 23 date last year Linfield drew 2-2 away to HB Tórshavn of the Faroe Islands in a Europa League 1st leg tie.
Andy Waterworth opened the scoring in the first minute and his second goal after 87 minutes gave Linfield a 2-1 lead on the night.
His goals put him top of the leader board as Linfield’s all time leading goalscorer in Europe and another hero on the night was debutant on loan goalkeeper Rohan Ferguson.
Rohan produced several stunning saves to keep Linfield in the tie ahead of the return leg at Windsor Park.
The drama wasn’t finished at the final whistle either.
Fog in the Faroes forced the cancellation of Linfield’s return flight to Belfast meaning an extra unscheduled night’s stay in the Faroese capital and a return flight to Belfast on the following day once the fog had cleared.
The team line up in Tórshavn was
Rohan Ferguson, Chris Casement, Jimmy Callacher, Mark Stafford, Matthew Clarke, Jamie Mulgrew, Bastien Hery, Niall Quinn (Joel Cooper 83’), Jordan Stewart (Kirk Millar 76’), Daniel Kearns (Shayne Lavery 80’), Andrew Waterworth
