On this July 25 date in 2013 Linfield lost 2-1 at home after extra time to Skoda Xanthi of Greece in a Europa League 2nd round 2nd leg tie.

An Aaron Burns goal had given Linfield a first leg win in Greece but Marcelo levelled the tie for Xanthi in the 26th minute at Windsor Park.

No further goals meant the tie went to extra time but Michael Gault equalised on the night for Linfield after 99 minutes. However, joy was short lived as Marcelo scored again for the Greeks after 105 minutes and they held on to win 2-1 on the night and progress to the next round on the away goals rule.

On this July 25 date in 2012 Linfield drew 0-0 at home to AEL Limassol of Cyprus in a Champions League 2nd round 2nd leg tie.

The Cypriots progressed 3-0 on aggregate and the team line up was

On this July 25 date in 2007 Linfield lost 1-0 away to Elfsborg of Sweden in a Champions League 1st round 2nd leg tie.

The Swedes progressed to the next round courtesy of an aggregate 1-0 success and the team line up was

Mannus, Douglas (Mouncey 77) Curran (Ferguson 75) Bailie, Lindsay, O'Kane, McAreavey, Gault, Mulgrew (Stewart 65), Thompson and Dickson.

Soon after the squad and accompanying party returned to Belfast the club chairman at the time, David Crawford passed away.
