On this August 25 date exactly 15 years ago Linfield hosted Halmstad of Sweden in a UEFA Cup 2nd round 2nd leg tie.
Linfield had drawn the away leg 1-1 in Sweden but hopes of a positive second leg outcome were soon dashed as the visitors raced into a 3-0 interval lead at Windsor Park.
Tim Mouncey pulled a goal back after 54 minutes but the visitors restored their 3 goal advantage after 74 minutes.
Glenn Ferguson grabbed a consolation strike after 82 minutes and to end a disappointing night for Linfield Michael Gault received a red card after 84 minutes.
