Linfield chairman Roy McGivern expresses his sadness at the passing this morning of the legendary Billy Millen.
"I'm deeply saddened to hear of the passing of legendary club striker Billy Millen after his brave battle against illness. I never saw Billy play but I have heard so many wonderful stories about him in recent weeks, as we marked the 50th anniversary of the famous Cup Winners Cup tie against Manchester City.
Billy's two goals in the home leg at Windsor Park will always be remembered but he also made a significant contribution to the club's domestic successes during his Linfield career.
Billy was undoubtedly a great character, as well as a superb player.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and we pass on our sincere condolences to his son Billy Jnr and to all of the Millen family circle.
