A warm welcome to Windsor Park to the players, officials, coaches, staff and supporters of Swiss champions, FC Zurich for tonight's third round, first leg tie in the UEFA Europa League. Zurich lost narrowly after extra time to Qarabag in their Champions League second round, second leg tie last week and they are sure to present a formidable challenge to Linfield's hopes of making further progress in the European area this season.

Next week's second leg tie will take place at the Letzigrund stadion in Zurich on Thursday August 11. Linfield have visited Switzerland twice before - losing 2-1 to Servette Geneva in 1985 and defeating Tre Fiori of San Marino close to UEFA HQ in Nyon near Geneva in 2020.

Linfield will commence the defence of the Danske Bank Premiership title with a home game against Portadown, scheduled for Sunday August 14 and will follow this up a week later, with a trip to play newly promoted Newry City at the Showgrounds. Linfield's Premiership game at home to Larne scheduled for Tuesday August 23, has been postponed due to the club's ongoing European commitments.

Linfield will play Crusaders in the curtain raiser to the new season - the NIFL Charity Shield, at Windsor Park on Saturday August 6. Tickets are on sale from the ticketing section of the club website, priced £10 for adults and £5 for concession.

Linfield's popular defender Niall Quinn has been awarded a Testimonial season by the club and a committee has been drawn up, to plan a programme of fundraising events across the course of the season ahead.

Jamie Mulgrew made his 50th European appearance for Linfield in last week's Champions league game away to Bodo Glimt. Matthew Clarke made his 36th European appearance in the same game, drawing him level with Noel Bailie MBE in second place in the club's all-time list of European appearance makers.

Linfield members and season tickets in all the various categories are available for renewal via the online ticketing section of the official club website.

Linfield Ladies resumed their Premiership campaign with a trip to Cookstown to play Mid-Ulster on August 1. Linfield will play away to Ballymena in the second round of the Irish Cup on August 5 and Glentoran will be the visitors to Midgley Park for a league game on August 10.

Linfield Ladies under 9, 11 and 13 teams won their respective Foyle Cup competitions in mid-July and the under 13s also won their Super Cup NI tournament.

Ashley Hutton announced her retirement from the Northern Ireland international squad after the final Euros game against England in Southampton on July 15. She made 115 senior appearances for her country.

Linfield Academy under 13 and 14 squads took part in the prestigious Super Cup NI tournament at the end of July.

In early September, an under 16 Linfield squad will play a friendly game against a French side in the Somme region of Northern France. The game will coincide with the official unveiling of a monument in the Somme village of Bertrancourt to mark the sacrifice of a number of Linfield personnel in the region during the World Wars.

Linfield have accepted an invitation to enter the Scottish Challenge cup in the season ahead. Linfield, Cliftonville and two Welsh clubs are due to enter the competition at the third-round stage which is scheduled for the weekend of September 23/24. Several seasons ago, Linfield travelled to Queen of the South, Spartans and Dundee United in this competition.

Linfield officially opened the new Blanchflower stadium, defeating H&W Welders 8-1 on July 16. Linfield won 2-0 against Loughgall in a testimonial game on July 23.
