On MD-1 at the team hotel in Zurich in midweek, the Linfield squad were delighted to welcome a very special visitor in former club doctor Andrew Massey.

When Bangorian Andrew was the Linfield club doctor, he combined the role with a similar role with the senior Northern Ireland international squad.

He then moved to Liverpool FC and he went on to become head of medical services at Anfield by the time Jurgen Klopp famously led the Merseysiders to their first Premier League title 2 years ago.

After leaving Liverpool, Andrew took up the post of medical director at FIFA whose headquarters are in Zurich where Linfield played in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Andrew was delighted to meet up in Zurich with several familiar faces from the Linfield back room staff and he was especially pleased to make a very special presentation to long serving Linfield sports therapist, Terry Hayes MSST.

Terry is immensely proud to have given 48 years service to Linfield, first as a player and then after injury curtailed his career, as physio and sports therapist. During his long Linfield career, Terry has contributed to numerous trophy successes under various managers and club doctors.

The presentation to Terry by Andrew Massey in Zurich was of a very special certificate, following Terry's recent successful completion of the FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine.

The congratulations of everyone at Linfield FC are extended to popular and dedicated Terry on receiving this recognition and qualification from FIFA and how appropriate that a former colleague with Linfield and Northern Ireland in Andrew Massey, should be in attendance in Zurich to acknowledge Terry's hard work and professionalism in obtaining this very prestigious and hard earned diploma from FIFA.
