One of the trophy presentations at the Gala awards event at the Europa hotel in Belfast city centre on Saturday night was the Dr Malcolm Brodie Players’ player of the year award.
The trophy, named in honour of the hugely respected former sports editor of the Belfast Telegraph, was provided by the family of the late and greatly missed Dr Brodie and is not just a much sought after trophy because of the association with a legendary journalist but also because the winner is chosen by the players in the first team squad.
The winner of the award was Daniel Finlayson and he was presented with the Malcolm Brodie trophy by Linfield director David Strain.
