The following is a press release from the Northern Ireland Football League with regard to the delayed start to the Danske Bank NIFL Women’s Premiership.
“The fixture schedule for the rescheduled Danske Bank Women’s Premiership season can now be revealed.
Confirmation came earlier this week that the top-flight of Women’s football in Northern Ireland will be the first of the NI Football League’s divisions to return to action, having been postponed from its original start in April due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Women’s Premiership returns on Wednesday 26 August 2020 with three top games as four-time champions Linfield Ladies kick-off the defence of their title at home to Crusaders Strikers. Across the city, Cliftonville Ladies will host Glentoran Women and finally Derry City Women face Sion Swifts Ladies in a North West derby to start the season.
The final round of the shortened league season will take place on Wednesday 11 November 2020, with all six clubs facing each other twice, once at home and once away.
As always, you can follow the action of the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership and your favourite club via the NI Football League website and social media channels with the latest news, interviews, reports and footage throughout the 2020 campaign.“
