Report
Linfield turned in a very impressive display in tonight’s behind closed doors training game - the first pre season game and the first outing since the corona virus pandemic brought a premature end to the 2019/20 season back in March.

It was a surreal atmosphere without supporters and without dressing room facilities but unfortunately, part of the necessary plan to restart football and hopefully, get back to some form of normality in the not too distant future.

Linfield took a 13th minute lead when a defender headed past his own keeper at the Kop end, while under pressure from Jimmy Callacher.

A foul on Andy Waterworth led to the free kick from Kirk Millar who supplied the assist for the opening goal - the foul led to the premature withdrawal of Waterworth a few minutes later, after he was unable to shake off the injury. The early end to Waterworth’s evening meant a sooner than planned introduction for Brandon Doyle.

Just before Waterworth was replaced, he had supplied a teasing right wing centre for the lively Matthew Shevlin who drew an excellent close range reflex save from the visiting keeper.

Half time - Linfield 1 Bohemians 0

The second half saw the introduction of a different line up and on 48 minutes Linfield scored again.

A deflected shot by Stephen Fallon set up nicely for Mark Stafford to head past the keeper from close range to double the advantage.

On 50 minutes Daniel Kearns produced a great strike which was deflected behind for a corner. From the resultant Jake Corbett corner Ethan Boyle headed home from close range to make the score line 3-0.

Linfield continued to press and impress - on 75 minutes great work by Stephen Fallon teed up Daniel Kearns but his strike was deflected wide for a corner.

With 5 minutes remaining a Jamie Mulgrew piledriver flew inches wide of the post.

A very useful work out, giving valuable and much needed game time to almost the full squad, with the only setback on the night being the knock sustained by star striker Waterworth.

Final score - Linfield 3 Bohemians 0
