The New Saints v Linfield

UEFA Champions League

First round, first leg

Tuesday July 5

Linfield FC has been in preliminary discussions with The New Saints regarding arrangements for the above eagerly anticipated game.

This club has been advised that a match ticket allocation slightly in excess of 200 will be made available for our supporters to be in attendance at this game.

This figure is considerably lower than we would expect would want to be in attendance at this UEFA game which will be played at a 1000 all seated capacity stadium.

As with limited ticket allocation games closer to home, this club will give first priority to tickets for this game to club members, senior members and life members.

With a figure significantly in excess of 500 members, senior and life members on the club’s data base, there is therefore no guarantee that all members who wish to attend this game will be able to obtain a match ticket.

As is frequently the case, Linfield FC will appeal for the understanding of our supporters in this matter which is entirely outside of our control.

Linfield FC expects the small allocation of match tickets to be taken up by members, senior members and life members.

The club is therefore asking any member, senior member or life member who wants to avail of the opportunity to buy a match ticket for this game to email before midnight on Wednesday June 22 with the following details. One ticket per member.

- Name

- Member, senior member or life member number

- Contact phone number and email address

On Thursday this club expects to have more expressions of interest than there will be available match tickets, but in the event that this is not the case, any available tickets will then be offered to season ticket holders.

Season ticket holders and non-season ticket holders are requested not to contact the club during this window of opportunity for members / senior members and life members.

If as expected, there are more expressions of interest from members / senior and life members, than there are match tickets, a ballot will take place to determine the lucky members who will be able to purchase a match ticket from this club.

In the interests of fairness and transparency, a Linfield tv video will film the ballot taking place and a full list of successful members will be published so that those supporters can contact the club to buy and collect their ticket.

The match tickets have not yet been received from the New Saints but members, senior members and life members who are successful in this ballot are advised that when calling to collect their match ticket, it will only be sold upon production of evidence of travel arrangements in the same name as the club member purchasing the match ticket.

A reserve or waiting list may be drawn in the ballot as back up, in the event of any withdrawals from those who were successful in the ballot.

Linfield FC is aware of the huge interest of our supporters in this fixture and sympathises entirely with the many supporters who will be unable to gain access to this game.

Further updates on this match ticket process will follow in due course.
